Harry Stedman at Regent

Posted by on

To complement the clothing that we create, Regent are always delighted when we find a company that shares our commitment to quality and craftsmanship and an appreciation of heritage. One such company is Harry Stedman.

A Liverpudlian who travelled the world as a merchant seaman during the 1950s and 1960s, Harry Stedman was inspired by the sights and sounds of the West and East. He would return home with mementoes from his voyages and adopted a style, all of his own, which combined heavy-duty working wear with refined leisurewear. In 2011, Harry's son, Phil, and grandson, Rick, established their eponymous company to pay homage to his unique sartorial flair and cultural curiosity. Celebrating the classic styles of European and American clothing that Harry incorporated into his dress, his namesake company produces workwear that has purpose and a timeless quality. Harry Stedman make the most of the very best of manufacturing in the UK, America and Japan to produce a subtle range of durable clothing that will last and age beautifully.

A favourite item, which demonstrates Harry Stedman's commitment to quality materials and manufacture, is their lightweight jersey sweatshirt, which really should be a casual wardrobe staple for all gents. For something that connects with the company's maritime roots, their merino wool shawl collar cardigan is ideal for the winter months and could be worn for leisure or work, if worn over a chambray shirt. A real celebration of heritage is Harry Stedman's Premium Raglan Varsity Jacket collaboration with Golden Bear Factory, one of the original American makers of this iconic style of jacket from the 1950s.
